My Journey Through Life..

Goodbye, irulemylife..

It’s been a while.. I’ve already thinking about this for a little while now, and finally everything reach the final decision.

So, what really happened..?

Since few months ago, I was already planning to leave this blog, leave irulemylife. But, I was doing that to even leap further, because…

I’VE GOT A NEW DOMAIN!

Yeah, surely I’m leaving irulemylife.wordpress.com to a new ‘home’. I’ve got a new domain to do my stuffs here. I’ve already migrated everything there, every comments, likes, status, statistics, everything. Once again, I’ve talked about this before, but thanks to everyone out there which has been visiting my blog since the very first post, I can stand still here and keep writing.

So, talking about new domain, you can visit my new website, of course. I’ll be happy if  you can pay me a visit, having chit chat and all. For that, you can go to

foodfunframe.com

Then, why didn’t I choose something similar to irulemylife back again? First reason is, that same name has already been taken, so yeah, no chance. I could give a name with additional dashes or dots, but I think that would be harder to remember, harder to recognize and everything. So I choose a simpler name. That name has 3 words in it but I think it would be easier to remember.

So, why foodfunframe.com?

  • FOOD, yeah because I’ll talk about food on my website, like what I was doing on my blog. So, I think that would be easy to remember due to content matching.
  • FUN, 2nd thing I’ll talk about there will be games like what I was doing here on my blog as well. I didn’t choose ‘game’ to make it easier and faster to remember after you combine the whole name together.
  • FRAME, yet, this has slightly deeper meaning. The other thing I usually talk about is fragments of  life. I associate those fragments as pictures which are great if you put it inside frames. So it’s like you’re looking at bunch of pictures of your life. Frames of life.

Haha, they might not make any sense to you, but I think that is a suitable name for my home.

Well then, everybody, I welcome you on my new site, even though it’s still under maintenance and tons of adjustments, but I’ll make it way better.

Remember 3Fs, foodfunframe(.com).

Instant Pianist : Piano+

A few posts ago, I’ve talked about a musical game called Violinist : Magical Bow which was developed by rubycell. Today I’m gonna talk about similar game, also from rubycell, but with different musical instrument called Piano+. Piano plus, of course, is a game of piano simulator but there’s a special feature inside that I really love.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I don’t know a lot about piano, aside from Do to Do, but I’m impressed how rubycell developed this game. The concept is actually similar to the violin one but the game mechanics is a little bit different. First of all, you’ll be presented with piano UI, obviously. This piano range is a little bit high to match the real piano, so you can hit the lowest note to the highest note. Now, this is a great idea, however our phone/tab screen might not be able to handle all that notes at once. You can, but the keys would be as small as strings thus hard to hit.

The game itself is similar to any hit-the-beat musical games. You’ll be presented the piano keys and have coming notes you need to hit with corresponding keys to produce sounds. It’s fun to play even though you can’t play piano at all. Sometimes you’re gonna mishit the notes and produce wrong sounds and make your supposed-to-be streak ends ridiculously. Sometimes in Piano+, you’ll need to press 2 or 3 keys simultaneously to fit the coming notes.

Moving to the song choices, you can browse online songs and might find what you really want. I’ve been playing some of my favorite songs including game and anime soundtracks. I think, the mechanism behind that online song search is some people out there making MIDI music sheets that can be played via this app. I don’t really know how they submit their works, but somehow, you can access that sheets by searching it from in-game search engine. Every songs you’ve searched would be stored on a list, so if in any case you want to replay it, don’t worry because everything’s stored.

On the other hand, I found some drawbacks from Piano+. This might relate to some people or it’s just my personal problem actually. Sometimes when I’m still in the middle of a song, the nodes just become invisible, I slide left and right to find them but no results. Then I press random key and suddenly all the nodes become visible again but in smaller size, breaking all the tempo. Sometimes the length of a node doesn’t suit the song at all. So when you’re holding a key of a node, then press another key that’s supposed to be your next node, you’ll move right away to that node, breaking the tempo as well. I think that’s an error and a homework for the developer for future enhancement. Other than that, I find this game amusing and pretty amazing, remembering how the music sheets are well-made and detailed.

OK, I guess, that’s for now, don’t forget to leave a like if you enjoy reading my story, pour me some words if you have any opinions or restaurant/game recommendations, and stay tuned for my upcoming stories.

Balinese Pork Combo : Warung Bu Komang

*WARNING : PORK DETECTED!!*

Balinese style dishes has been spreading across Yogyakarta for some years, which letting us, food hunters to choose from different cooking style and taste. There are 3 famous Balinese restaurant in Yogyakarta, which I think is pretty authentic in style, but today I’m gonna talk about one of them. It’s called Warung Bu Komang. This restaurant is originally located in Timoho, Yogyakarta, but now it has spread its wings to open new shop near Pasar Pathuk, also close to one of Yogyakarta’s point of interests, Malioboro.

I’ve tried the original restaurant one but at that time I haven’t even devoted to blogging yet, so there’s no record about it. Now that I’m making a move to taste a lot of food, I tried the new branch which is fortunately not far from where I live.

Looks like the new branch of Warung Bu Komang doesn’t look so traditional. The original one does, complete with Balinese attributes and style. Their main specialty is pork, but if you desire something else, you can choose chicken. Usually, the most favorite menu in local Balinese restaurant is the mixed-pork one, called Nasi Campur (literal translation : mixed rice). Commonly, you’ll get pork for this menu, unless you ask for chicken.

So, this is what I got that day, nasi campur, but separated between the side dish and the rice. I also got a small bowl of soup which is very common for nasi campur. First let’s talk about the soup. It had no meat at all inside, just the soup, crispy shallots, scallions, and various of spices hence the color of the soup wasn’t so clear. Surprisingly, the taste was pretty bland. I was hoping to get strong taste of spices as I usually got when having nasi campur, but not that time.

Next the side dishes, which was pork. Of course I ordered pork whenever I came to Balinese restaurant :D. You’ll get a plate of various pork dishes. First thing first, what can be quickly remarked was the pork satay. It’s grilled pork on a skewer. The pork size was quite big per pieces and diced as well. It’s not overly sweet and not overcooked. It had no charred marked so I think, it’s grilled for medium amount of time. Next  is the deep fried pig skin. This was awesomely cooked. Crispy, crunchy, and salty outside, slightly hard to bite, but heavenly chewy on the inside.

Next one was the pig liver slices. Well, that was new. I’ve never had any pig liver slices whenever I ordered nasi campur. The pig liver is slightly sweet, probably marinated beforehand and slightly hard to bite as well, but more to the soft side. It’s stir fried with some kind of spices, I don’t really know what (probably mixed of bunch of spices), but it tasted salty with subtle taste of sweetness. Next item is the soy-sauced pork. It’s sweet obviously, but still had savory taste to it. The spices only covers the outside. However, the soy sauce spices amazed me with that not-so-sweet result.

Beside the pork, you’ll get 2 types of minced veggies, and 1 scoop of sambal, a very hot one. Bunch of cassava leaves, boiled and slightly mixed with salty spices were ready alongside your pork. Another veggies was minced long beans. However, since I know the sambal would be very hot, I gave it to my friends :D. By experience, I’ve learned that every Balinese restaurant has superbly hot special sambal, usually called sambal matah.

The price was vary for every food on the menu, from IDR 12k to 30k. As I stated before, they also have chicken if you don’t or can’t eat pork. They also have various other dishes like crispy chicken skin, crispy pig skin, fried rice, and others. So far, no Balinese restaurant got me dissapointed :D. Anyway, I think that’s for now, leave me some words at the comment section if you have ideas or opinions, leave like if you enjoy reading my stories, follow my Instagram account @bitethefood for foodie reports, and stay tuned for my next stories.

Skill You Must Own in Life (2) : Be Alone

OK, I have the unknown urge to do this intermezzo by talking about a fragment of life thing, but, yeah, here I come..

Another thing that I’ve experienced a lot in life is being alone. Not single and not having love-relationship-alone but more like alone literally. Only be with myself and no people surrounding. I’m sure still living with my dad and mom but somehow in a day, the ratio of me meeting them and not meeting them goes more to the latter. My mom’s working, sometimes from 8 AM to 9 PM and my dad takes her to work and picks her up. Sometimes when my parents at home, I’m not.
I think I can broaden the boundary a little bit larger by including ‘surrounded by strangers/people we don’t know at all’ in this category. I don’t really experience being literally alone that much but the 2nd condition do exists quite often.

That’s a little bit of background story..

In addition of what I’ve stated, you don’t necessarily leave with no one since this condition happens quite naturally. Sometimes your friends/family is busy and you’re left alone. Sometimes you do your ‘me time’ and take a stroll with no proper plans, just going and doing something impulsively. Stuffs like that. Being alone is pretty hard for some people since some people tend to need others to talk with and that’s why this skill is important. At some points in your life, you’ll certainly meet find yourself in this situation and you can’t and may not get stressed out just by being alone.

For me, since I’m kinda used to it (and prefer to be alone at most points, being around 4 to 5 people is still acceptable, though), I usually do my hobby during that time. I do blogging, drawing, sometimes playing music (even though I’m suc* at it), singing with my terrible voice, and so on. Listening to some musics would be a great help. Basically, during that time, you’re only be with yourself so you can only rely to yourself. You should be able to help yourself in any kind of tasks.

Another solution is taking a stroll around the city. With no plans at all, somehow I can spend hours strolling around with my motorbike. You don’t need to spend your time on the road. You can treat yourself some snacks or meals, going to some point of interests in your city, stopping for a while to enjoy some beautiful views, visiting book store or library to enhance your knowledge or simply read fun magazines or books, etc etc. Having a cup of tea or coffee is sufficient to enjoy your solitude, I believe. Possibilities are tons. Somehow by being alone, I can spend a lot of money only for snacks/meals. 😀

Fresh air might help you if you’re hitting hard times in your life. Enjoying nature or going somewhere further than you usually go/visit might help clear and refresh your mind a little (if you’re living in a packed city). Seeing mountain, sea, beach, hills, or any other mother nature products might be the best way to spend your ‘me time’. Just seeing or contemplating, or even better, doing nothing, just pure gazing.

Being alone shouldn’t make you more intense or stressed, just enjoy the time while being alone. At some points you won’t be with anyone or won’t need anyone. At that time, you’ll only need yourself to handle and be handled. Last but not least, thank you for reading this life lesson (or total nonsense but this is what I’m thinking about), give me words if you have opinions, leave like if you enjoy reading my stories and thought, follow my Instagram account for some foodie trips @bitethefood, and stay tuned for my next stories.

Instant Violinist : Violin Magical Bow

For the history of my life, I rarely played musical game, not even the famous Dance Dance Revolution during 90’s and early 2000’s. However, lately a lot of musical game, specially for mobile are really well-developed. Since it’s designed in 2010’s and onwards, they (developers) are using more futuristic musics, usually marked with techno style. I’m not really a techno guy, so I move to something else. My friend played a piano one before, might be reviewed next time. But for today, I wanna highlight the violin one called Violin : Magical Bow by rubycell. This developers also produced the piano one I’ve stated previously.

Since this is really a simple but magnificent game, I think I don’t need a long story to extract all the greatness, so here it is. Playing Violin : Magical Bow is like being an instant virtual violinist due to its amazing concept. First, we’ll talk about its music playlist. So far, every songs that I’ve ever played in the game is a classical notes. Take names of legendary maestro and composers like Bach, Brams, and many more at your song lists. You can play that with your virtual violin (or cello and viola if you buy the in-game purchase). Those masterpieces are right in your hand to play. But, not every musics are unlocked at the same time. You need to play some songs, make progress, gain experience, and level up to unlock next songs. The higher your level, the more songs in your book.

Now, for the game mechanics. All you’re presented with is just a violin with moving colorful nodes. All you have to do is play that node. Don’t worry it’s not that hard (in the beginning). Since there are 4 strings, there are 4 different areas for corresponding string. When a node reach the black circle point, you need to place your bow at the corresponding string area and start swiping left or right to make the sound by hitting that node. You go like this until the song is finished. Each nodes give you points for scoring system at the end of each song. Sometimes the nodes are a bit longer so you need to swipe slowly like dealing with the real violin. Timing and tempo are important in Violin : Magical Bow. Also sometimes, you’ll meet machine gun-like strings of nodes, so you need to play your bow carefully to get full points.

TBH, I don’t play the cello and viola version since I don’t have the budget to do so, but the violin itself is so dam* great. I don’t know much of classical instruments or compositions, but I like hearing some classical songs. I enjoy the song and the gameplay. The viola and cello have different game mechanics, I think, and I’m eager to try them sometimes in the future.

Anyway, leave some comments if you have ideas or recommendations for me, leave like if you enjoy reading my stories. Right now, I’m still collecting materials for foodie trip for future blog entries :D. Follow my IG account @bitethatfood, and stay tuned for my next stories.
